Barack Obama won the South Carolina primary in convincing fashion tonight. The election, tinged with bitterness, puts Obama back on the winning trail after consecutive losses in New Hampshire and Nevada. The election sharpened the attention on race, and Obama won convincingly amongst African Americans, outpolling Hillary by a four to one margin. With 52 percent reporting the numbers are:
Barack Obama 54%
Hillary Clinton 27%
John Edwards 18%
Edwards won this primary four years ago, and whether he elects to stay in or not, he is finished. Its on to Super Tuesday as a two man race on the Democratic side, and likely the same on the Republican side.
Rumor has it that Ted Kennedy will endorse Obama very soon.

“TOGETHER WE CAN”….”YES WE CAN”….EXACTLY WHAT CAN WE DO??? HOPE ALONE DOES NOT PAY THE BILLS..CCREATE JOBS..PROTECT OUR SENIORS OR EDUCATE OUR CHILDREN..IT TAKE REAL VISION..COMPETENT GOVERNANCE ..AND COMMON SENSE….NEITER FEDERAL..STATE OR LOCAL GOVERNMENTS OUGHT TO BALANCE THE BOOKS ON A WING AND A PRAYER..OR ONE TIME REVENUES..

One time revenues, both at the State and local levels, have been utilized to forestall service cuts that everyone professes to be against. At the Federal level they do not utilize one-time revenues to balance the budget, they simply run deficits. With the call for structural balance comes the need to advocate specific budget cuts. Should be an interesting budget cycle at the State and local levels this year.
