McCain fixated on Ayers

John McCain remains fixated on Bill Ayers, having surrogates and his ad campaign really focus on tying Barack Obama to him. I realize that I am not a neutral observer, but it seems to me that a subject like this, so effective for Republicans in the past, just does not have any legs with people so worried about the economic meltdown. McCain’s other avenue of attack, on the Democratic ties to Fannie and Freddie, had much greater potential for inflicting harm, but has been bungled by the campaign’s very convoluted message on the bailout and responsibility for the mess. McCain campaign guru Steve Schmidt had been effective in re-focusing the campaign after a difficult period, but has not crafted a coherent message on the economy. In light of the polling data I think it fair to say that as far as this race goes that “you don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows”.

    Your Honor,

Have you seen the video clips of the McCain audience chewing him out and is some cases booing him because of his ineffective campaign?

Let’s put it this way; I would not bet against Obama right now. Not even for a Starbucks coffee.

I know that some in the McCain camp are not happy with the effectiveness of his campaign. I believe that many were not strong John McCain folks anyway, and look at this as the Republicans erring in not putting up a “true conservative”. Take heart, because on our side we are used to finger pointing and intraparty bloodletting after presidential losses. After all we Dems have lost enough of them to have become used to it. For the Republicans I think major change is on the horizon.

    Your Honor,

I don’t see it that way. I do not see the future leaders. The “conservatives have swung to middle and maybe landed on the left.

Maybe Sarah Palin may be part of a new conservative movement. At least will be charming.

The most disturbing to me is the shift of the American political center to the left. We have become dependent upon government largess.

John Quincy wrote Abigail while listening expressing worry that the people will one day find they have control over the revenue.

The liberal culture has shown the way. How can politicians tax and spend and keep their jobs for a life time? Pander.

    Your Honor,

John Quincy Adams was listening to the reading of the Declaration of Independence when he expressed his concern of public corruption.

    Jules,
Conceptually I do acknowledge that it has been easier to expand spending rather than curtailing it. I do not agree that the public will reject the truth on spending and vote down anyone advocating balanced budgets or spending reductions. I do believe that essential fairness is what the public looks for when such reductions are necessary. I do believe that the Republican future can be seen in the House Republican caucus rather than in the Republican Senate caucus, and I believe that the “Club for Growth” wing of the Party will become ascendent. But then again I am a Democrat.

    Your Honor,

Thank you for trying to make me feel better. And I do.

However, while Obama may be up in the polls, your good buddy, Deval Patric is up to his shirt waiste in fiscal problems. He violated the rule about not budgeting up to the limit and now has no room for manuver.

Of course you Mayors will have to take the heat for it (and pass it too your over taxed citizens, with the appropriate sadness.)

I await your “meeting with Patrick” entries.

There has been some hope (using Obama’s campaign phrase) about McCain’s chances. Even though Obama is up in the polls, some old friends are back in the news.

Louis Farakkan, Reverend Wright as a consequence of Farakkan, ACORN, former employer as fingered by me for triggering the mortgage issue, are cheating at the polls in many places, Mr Ayres, Mr. Resko all Chicago croo…er political friends. Not even the Liberal Press allies can’t bury this news.

There is also the Bradley effect.

Who knows, maybe there is some hope, yet.

I want to wish you, and my good friend Jim an enjoyable Holiday.

Liberal spending? I believe the last 20 years where so called Republican conservatives were some of the worst at spending our money.

You can be a liberal without wanting to spend all people’s money. The problem is that most of our nation’s leaders aren’t liberals or conservatives. They’re just plain greedy.

    Derek,
I noticed you said, “You can be a liberal without wanting to spend all people’s money.”

I would change that to ….”spend all the people’s money all at once.”

The Republicans have the same spending habits as the Liberals over the last several decades.

I’m a conservative who votes Republical. I find John McCain’s not to my liking. I just want to protect the supreme court at this point.

Republicans failed to follow conservative ways and even copied or exceeded the Democrats in their spending. It’s like a greed feeding frenzy. They will pay for the abandoment of principle.

The next four years are going to difficult (I presume Obama has the edge.)
