President Obama on Food Safety and the FDA

President Barack Obama uses his weekly broadcast to talk about food and medicine safety in the U.S., and two new appointments to the FDA. The President points to some big inadequacies in our food inspection regimen, and points to his plans to shore that system up. A “nuts and bolts” government management issue being handled proactively, instead of reactively. What a nice change. Who says that government at the federal level is all about ideology. It is, in many cases, about effective management. This is one of those times.

    Your Honor,

Obama managing effectively??? You got to be kidding. I just hope you don’t take a page from his book, your honor.

This guy can’t fill his administration. People have quit or have withdrawn their name.

Geithner can’t find help. Never heard of that before.

He is spending us into eternity. Any other president would have been crucified for that.

One day the economy is in a crisis and the next the economy is strong. These guys are so transparent as they try to manipulate the folks. Are you being manipulated your honor?

I have always questioned his competence. That feeling is strengthen every day. The Pol numbers show that.

I guess hope is eternal for you.

Damn socialists. Why can’t they leave the food supply to private industry to police? And get back to cutting more taxes?

    Jules,

The FDA being proactive instead of reactive is what good management is about. Even though you do not approve of President Obama why can’t you just admit that initiatives like this are what is needed in government. Less of the agenda driven by ideology, and more driven by results. Sort of like the stem cell decision.

    Jules:

I read that a number of people have removed their name from consideration because of the high ethical standards Obama promoted, and they wouldn’t appreciate the spotlight that can be brought to bear if a misstep is found.

I think it says more about our culture if anyone who is anyone might have a skeleton or two in the closet than it does about the President.

    Your Honor,

I do not think this guy knows what he is doing. Time will tell, but he is confused and worse, confusing.

There was never an interference with stem cell research. Moral considerations restricted federal participation.

I assume there will be no more outbreaks of illness with his proactive management in FDA. We’ll see.

We can, if you wish, talk to it on a issue by issue basis.
