The hype is over, the talking heads have spoken. Who won? Palin without a doubt exceeded expectations, and drove the debate at times. Biden got his major themes across and was a steady hand at the wheel. It appears to have been gaffe free, with both sides likely satisfying their base. The question is would either performance be likely to swing undecided voters towards their ticket?

I will actually give her an A for presence, likeability, presentation, coherence, and the fact that she’s a lot prettier than Biden.
However, though I think she did a fine job speaking, I think she did a better job evading the questions asked of her, and usually only approached that when Biden spoke first, and she was doing a follow-on. Very rare was the instance where she actually answered a question directly, and with any depth. Because she has none on the national/international stage.

Jim,
She’s a newby. He’s got 30 years. I would expect him to have more experience to answer questions of historical nature. Unfortunately, 14 statements involving eho voted when and for whom or what were completely wrong on facts (i.e. counting votes)
Glib and wrong = wrong.
She did fine. He was charming she was amazing.
I admit though McCains is in trouble.
I hope you have saved your loose change because Obama = taxes, no matter what he promises. Learned from his good friend Deval “tax cut” Patrick.

Palin’s folksy speak and attitude was more like watching “The Grand Ol’ Opry” rather than the Grand Old Party. I would hope our so-called leaders would have a command of the English language and not end every sentence with a preposition. Furthermore, women who giggle and wink set back the women’s movement 50 years. Obama/Biden 2008!!!

L. Done,
In a 90 minute debate all you can do is mock her speaking style? You are an elitist.
Folks from other parts do speak like that.

Jules,
I also meant to mention the fact that she wouldn’t and couldn’t answer a straight question. When Gwen Idell asked Palin who was at fault in the subprime mortgage crisis, Palin said that we need tax relief and Obama voted 94 times to increase taxes. False! Palin had a script that she memorized and misspoke several times. Furthermore, Jules, thanks for calling me an elitist. I consider that a real compliment.

Re: “Who was at fault for the sub-prime mortgage crisis?” The current thinking from Paulson and Benanke names the former Federal Reserve Chairman; that maverick, Alan Greenspan. What was Greenspan thinking when he lowered the interest rate?–that lower-salaried people and their children could realize the American dream? How democratic.
