Democrat Steve Grossman and Republican Karen Polito mixed it up with Jim Braude today in what Braude called a “real debate”. Major disagreements on Polito’s recent holding up of the $400 million supplemental budget, her call for no pensions for politicians, Grossman’s call for the placement of state tax dollars in Massachusetts banks to spur local lending, and the operation of the State Lottery, which falls under the Treasurer. Polito was and is combative, but Grossman held his own, giving as good as he took.
The recent Globe poll had Grossman at 40%, Polito at 30%, with 28% undecided. A key race, and one that remains in play.
