The President Sticks to Health Care

The President sticks to health care in his weekly address, talking about the recent industry commissioned study done by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, and decrying the conclusions contained in that report. The report has created a backlash, not appearing to have been as effective as the industry had hoped in stopping the prospects for a health care bill. The counter attack has been everywhere, including a New York Times editorial, a column by Paul Krugman, and a very interesting story about Republican political calculus that see political gain from just saying no, and not coming up with any policy alternatives. The numbers are truly frightening in health care, and they will without doubt destroy us economically if left as is. That process of economic destruction is already upon us. I have attached the PriceWaterhouse report, as well as links to the Krugman column and the Times editorial, as well as the just say no article.

Read the Krugman column here.

    Your Honor,

    I counter your Paul Krugman with my Glenn Beck. It will be like anti-matter, they will both be blown away.

    Krugman’s thought are predictable as are Beck’s and Hannity’s.

    As for the Gray Old Lady, her best days are behind her, way behind her. Like Krugman , the reporting and commentary are bias. For the same reason, I would never quote the weekly standard to you.

    So we have to get back to basics.

    THERE IS NO FINAL HEALTH CARE BILL YET. Many steps are before us to ‘craft’ one. What is true today is not true tomorrow. Some things I will risk a cup of coffee on are;

    1. There will be at least be a strong attempt to include a single payer clause.

    2. For sure there will be a clause that will lead to a single payer bill.

    3. The bill will cost more than a trillion dollars and any attempt to reduce that will mean taking billions from Medicare and taxing those that make less than Obama’s magic $250,00 limit (which will do eventually).

    You are correct when you admit that the economics will destroy us. So I am not understanding why you think that saying “NO” is a losing strategy for the Republicans. After all it is an event that will occur in the future so it is risky.

    As far as ‘not coming up with their own policy’ that is a lie. I know you keep up with the news and I know you know the Republicans have proposed policy alternatives, i.e. extending competition, tort reform (real reform), proving means for the poor to receive assistance to purchase their own insurance, etc. It has all been rejected by the Democratic majority. YOU KNOW THIS in spite of what you claim to ‘read’. You know how I feel about quoting your biased sources. (and me about quoting mine)

    Of course I stand on the assured result that Democratic HealCare will spell the end of our Constitutional Republic. After all I quote Mayor Manzi,” the process of economic (and political-ed) destruction is already upon us.”

    Do we have a bet?

    Jules
