President Obama talking about financial matters, including bank stress test results, cutting 121 federal programs, and credit card legislation. He has received some major push back from Congress on the program to cut a very modest amount of money out of the budget by eliminating programs identified as not effective. Cutting programs apparently is not the forte of legislative bodies anywhere.

Your Honor,
Much to do about nothing: I heard that Obama had removed budget items to the tune of 17 billion dollars. Now he talks about saving 210 billion dollars in 10 years or an average of 21 billion per year approximating the 17 billion I mentioned above.
However as taken in the light of 1.34 trillion dollars budget, the savings, if enacted, amounts to about 1.3%. WOW.
Of course, as you point out, he is running into resistance from his Democratic lawmakers. I also noticed these items can be easily and quietly restarted at any time in the future .
Propaganda Value for being a cost cutter; a large number seems large until you compare it to immense numbers, then it is a small number.
If what Obama says is true, that the economy shows signs of recovery (which I sense also), then our recession could have recovered without the stimulus infusion. This recession, which is compared to the 1929 collapse by the propaganda bomb throwers, has only been around for less than a year.
I sense the TARP has been necessary, and that Giethner may have done a pretty good job at its implementation. (This comment does not include the automobile companies).
I heard his Socialist keywords spoken in this clip.
