Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell does the dance on the deficit, refusing to say how he would pay for the extension of the Bush tax cuts, and refusing to even discuss Republican House Budget guru Paul Ryan’s Roadmap on Deficit Reduction. He will not take a stand on anything, and only issues platitudes. Listen carefully to his total evasion of the questions. Amazing. His punting to the Presidential Deficit Commission is also stunning, in light of unified Republican opposition to the creation of that very same commission. McConnell, I believe, voted against the legislative creation of that Commission, forcing the President to create it by Executive Order.

Your Honor,
You seem to think a commission is a good idea. It’s, in fact, a means for Obama to avoid responsibility for facing what has been avoided since Franklin Roosevelt’s administration. Things are so bad that Christine Romer, his chief economic adviser went back to the University of California to explain why her left wing economic philosophy went down the crapper. This major event was strangely missing from your blogesphere.
So now you sit and collect idiotic comments from Republicans make a minor point. Commissions are useless.
The politicians are paid to solve problems, especially economic and financial problems. They have to do something to justify those immense retirement and health care plans while sticking the American people with a health care pig.
How about we discuss issues not Republican doings. Want dumb things to quote, follow Joe Biden, If you can find him
Hope you had a nice week end.

Jules,
Cannot deny that plenty of dopey things said by Dems on deficit. But Republicans are charging hard on the issue, and I just keep waiting for the specifics.
Would tend to agree on Commissions save for one point. It allows pols to try to deflect blame for potentially tough decisions to the Commission and under our system might be the only way to get difficult decisions ratified. You saw old Mitch clutching at the Commission like it was a life raft, didn’t you?

Your Honor,
I don’t know if you read what you just wrote above. The Pols can deflect blame by shifting it to the commissions and that’s a good thing?
How about we hold the elected politicians collective feet to the fire and make them do their work for which they are being overpaid.
