The Long Goodbye

President Bush delivered his last speech to the country as President, highlighting the positives (as he sees them) from his eight years in power. The President admitted to setbacks, and said he would do some things differently if given a chance. He was gracious to President-elect Obama in his remarks, and truly has been gracious in how he has handled the transition. Good speech or more of the same attitude that has put us in the jackpot?

Yikes, after 8 long years, he still has no clue. But at least he didn’t vow to cut local aid and “lay off police, teachers and firefighters,” as our gov did tonight.

    Your Honor,
The retiring president has always a gentleman.

Never any recrimination unlike the hateful bille that has dripped from the Fringes of the Democratic part.

Now it is your time. We will see if your community organizer with all his honored cabinet and friends who now have to answer for despicable acts (pardon mark Rich-free FLAN terrorists and “forget” to pay taxes and he’s the head tax man) will succeed. Your man has not even taken the oath of office and already he’s burned in effigy.

So take you whacks at George Bush, then cross your fingers.

I predict the new president will find it difficult to stray too far from the old.

Was anyone else struck by this phrase, and how easily he laid it out there?

“As we address these challenges – and others we cannot foresee tonight – America must maintain our moral clarity. I have often spoken to you about good and evil. This has made some uncomfortable. But good and evil are present in this world, and between the two there can be no compromise. Murdering the innocent to advance an ideology is wrong every time, everywhere.”

It’s a good thing consistency isn’t politically required, when not convenient …

I think I’ll TiVo coverage of his flight out of Washington and save it for posterity.

I predict that Bush 43 will be judged the worst president in US history.

And the all knowing, evil, Darth Cheney would say that he has a ‘fundamental’ disagreement with your prediction…because in actuality, you’d be judging him.
