Caroline You Knows Her Way

Caroline Kennedy continues to take her lumps, with a new You Tube video counting the times she said “you know” during the course of her several public prouncements. Today’s Herald has a Margery Egan column withdrawing her earlier support for Kennedy based on her assement that all those you knows show her to be unfit for prime time. From Margery Egan:

She’s turned out to be a no-pulse flat-liner with the vim, vigor, enthusiasm and passion of, um, you know, a wet noodle. Worse, and here’s the campaign killer, she inserts “um” and “you know” between every no-pulse, flat-lining, is-she-awake or sleep-talking word she utters.

Oh – it’s an auditory terror ordeal.

The interviews have been less than stellar, and her non-participation in prior elections is not a plus. She is still a contender, but the aura of inevitability has been tarnished.

    Your Honor,
I am surprised you start the new year by exposing yourself to abuse by publishing this blog. I read Margery’s column also.

Well, I’m not going to beat you up on this matter. After all it was last year’s news.

Let me make an observation. Her uncle Ted is the world,s champion of “Um’s”. So, DNA wise she’s following a family tradition, and it has not hurt his career. In fact Howie Carr has made a career out of them.

Therefore the question comes down to breeding vs. competence. Breeding usually wins.

    Be happy.

    Your Honor,

I suggest you might want to read today’s column by Wayne Woodlief regarding Caroline Schlo…Kennedy. Interesting.

In an unrelated issue; what is with this “retirement enhancement” rule that politicians who lose elections can apply for that could substantially increase his retirement value? I heard about this “law” because Mazeli is applying. His $14,000 will become $27,000.

I had not read it until your reference. Some good points. I do believe she is still a likely choice, just not an inevitable one. Woodlief is right about the comparisions, as Ted and Mayor Menino have been known to garble a syntax or two. Certainly late night comedians have had a field day with George Bush.

The law Marzilli is trying to take advantage of is a bylaw of the pension system that allows those forced from their jobs (I guess elections losses count) to increase their pension. It is another provision of state pension law that makes everyone look stupid. Marzilli is not likely to keep any pension however as his likely conviction on felony charges will mean a total loss of pension benefits. Another provision that needs to be eliminated from state pension law.

    Your Honor,

Does that mean layoffs are eligible for this kiss?

Do you know what was the thinking that created this bylaw in the first place?

An interesting “um” story. I used to belong to Toastmasters. Our club charged us a penalty if we used “um” or other similar semi-words. We paid up at the end of the night. We had an “um” keeper. At that time in the 70’s we paid a nickel for each “um”.

We could make a fortune off the Kennedy.

I’ve never been a fan of Margery Eagan before, and I’m certainly not one now. There are plenty of reasons to NOT support Caroline What’s-her-name, but her use of the phrase “you know” is not one of them.

Look at Mayor Menino (for example), being a good public speaker has nothing to do with political experience. Barak “ummmm, uuhhhh” Obama would be another example.

I think her non-participation in previous elections is enough for me. I would have thought she could have gotten a ride to the polls from a variety of family members …

Andrew Cuomo is looking better and better with each passing day. I wonder if Patterson is simply waiting for the polling to change before making a decision.

Ok, let’s remember some things. Her uncle Joe was killed by the Nazi’s in WWII. Her dad was killed by a communist while serving as President. Her uncle Bobby was killed by a terrorist while serving in the Senate and running for President. Her family has certainly given up much for our country. As far as I’m concerned, the Kennedy’s can have anything they want. The Gov should pick her now and end this circus. If not her, who? If not now, when?

    Mattyk,

Her only requirement for a Democratic Governor is being a Kennedy. Can you imagine the phone calls to Patterson’s office.

All that other stuff is not a reason for selection. After all being a 5 year prisoner under tourture did not help John McCain, as it should not have.

Mattyk’s statement is why I will forever give Teddy K a pass. He’s dedicated his life to his countries’ service (try not to choke, jules!), as his brothers had. Caroline has been a very late bloomer. There is at least one better candidate available, and to keep everyone happy, part of the Kennedy family tree.

If we want out of this mess, we need seriously committed people in Congress, not just family names. IMHO.

Are you saying you would give Caroline the job?
