Joe Threatens to Go

MSNBC is reporting that Senator Joseph Lieberman has opened talks with Republican Leader Mitch McConnell about joining the Republican caucus in light of his failed talks with Majority Leader Harry Reid. Lieberman apparently considers the Reid offer of some sub-committee chairs or the chair of a lesser full committee to be “unacceptable”. With his leverage now gone Lieberman stands alone, although the Republicans would obviously welcome him, they won’t agree with him much. Joe thinks that his support for the Democratic majority for the past two years somehow gives him a pass over his overt bashing of Barack Obama. The Democratic caucus disagrees.

Since his Democratic primary loss to Ned Lamont there have been some raw feelings between Lieberman and other Democratic caucus members. Lieberman will likely be much more comfortable in the Republican caucus, and that is where he belongs. Be careful of that swinging door Senator.

    Your Honor,

I can see the liberal viewpoint here. After all he did cavort with the enemy. They do have to punish someone. It’s a liberal thing.

Joe is heads above those fellows. By the most part, though, Joe is a liberal.

He may have to sit alone.

This is often posed as a lonely but principled stand for which a brave Senator pays a price.

The anger against Joe Lieberman goes back to 2006. He was not the only Senator who continued to support a forever occupation.

But even then he was unique as a Democrat in going out of his way to taunt those whose support he demanded.

Let him go NOW!…After reaping the benefits of Pres Clinton’s administration he was the FIRST one in line to stick the knife in; one would think he learned politics in Methuen!

He hurt Al Gore’s chances for the Presidency and by that ushered in the era of GWB.

The Democratic Party should not allow him to have any leadership position and should forever expel him from any participation in conventions.

The Democratic Party here in Massachusetts ought to expel from its convention any person who has sought and won office as a Democrat but has actively supported Republican candidates and/or raised money for Republican candidates.

    LET ALL THESE HYPOCRITES GO!
