There has been wide disagreement on the tax impacts of the McCain and Obama tax proposals, although McCain came close to admitting the wider benefit of Obama’s plan when he accused him of wanting to “re-distribute” wealth with his tax plans. Here Obama keeps picking away at the subject, inviting people to calculate the impacts on them of the Obama plan. Clever ad, hitting at a key area of the campaign.

You Honor,
Haven’t you learned anything about tax cut promises from Governors and Presidents.
Deval’s promise has gone from tax cut promise to a billion dollar hole.
Obama is going to redistribute taxes, taking from some people and giving it others. The hair on the back of my head stood up when I heard Obama’s discussion with “Joe the plumber” where our future socialist President told this fellow that if he reaches his dream, Obama will take away some his hard money and distribute it among others because it’s fair.
Do you feel that is fair?
By the way have you done your home work and figured how 40% people who pay no taxes + 8% who are rich and will be wacked + 95% who will get a tax cut = 100% Hmmm
Question: will Obama send checks to people who pay no taxes as part of their tax cut?
Obama has all the same credibility as his buddy Deval, and it will result in the same horror.
Have you noticed how your fellow Democrats and their media lackeys have vilified Joe.
Class act you honor.
Tax hell is coming.

Jules,
What I do know about taxes is that in order to fund the government (for example to pay the ten billion a month we are spending in Iraq)someone must pay taxes. The Republican idea as put forward by McCain and Bush is that you do not need to pay the expenses associated with government, including the military, because you can borrow it and leave open the question of who pays. So they have borrowed from overseas and left this debt to our children.
What McCain and Bush don’t answer is when the budget gets balanced, and who pays taxes??? The bone in everyones throat here is that Bush gave tax cuts to the top 1 percent while doubling the national debt. His fiscal and tax policies are INSANE. The attempt to roll back that tax cut is seen by many as restoring some level of fiscal sanity. The Democratic problem is that they would spend that money many times over. I accept the criticism of the Democratic tax policy insofar as they do not recognize any need to balance the federal budget. I consider the reckless and dangerous policies of the Republicans the reason we are at this point.

Jules,
Interesting you should bring up the poor vilified Joe the plumber….who just happens to not only have outstanding tax debt, but also doesn’t possess a plumber’s license, and who by surname might even be related to one of the Keating Five principals.
What a tangled web McCain weaves….

Jules,
You cannot cut taxes on people who pay zero tax. Zero minus tax cut equals Zero.

Jim,
Heck, Jim, if paying all your taxes was a requirement for holding political office we would not have enough legislatures in Mass to hold a quorum.
“Joe the plumber” works for a plumbing company that has an umbrella license. He’s ok.
You have no proof of his relationship to some obscure Keating guy, so you are unfair. Class act, Jim.
L. Done, there is a way to cut taxes on people who pay no taxes. It is called minus tax cut, or in ordinary parlance a check-in the-mail.(Welfare is another term)
Now you are going to supporting working people who pay no taxes (these are are not homeless or destitute)

Your Honor,
For a more intelligent discussion of this matter see “we have a failure to communicate”.
I read this thing a few times. I assume then you do not listen Obama’s plans. I have. I Can’t figure them out. Things are never what these guys think the situation is until the winner takes office anyway.
But, we have one Obama promise, “free health care for all. We don’t need anything else to add significantly to the deficit spending.
He will also give away money to working people who pay no taxes. After all he wants to be fair as he pointed out to Joe the Plumber.
Your comment, “I consider the reckless and dangerous policies of the Republicans the reason we are at this point” is not true.
This has been the result of a long history of failure of both sides, both administratively and legislatively. lately, Barney Frank and Chris Dodd are involved as anyone else.
Again you are wrong. You just play the Bush sucks card. It impresses deadheads.

The Bush sucks card impresses more than “deadheads”. It impresses just about 70 percent of the population.
