The Obama campaign has been hitting John McCain pretty hard on his health care proposals. His plan to tax employer based health care benefits and offer a five thousand dollar tax credit for the purchase of private plans has been the focus of the attention. Here is a new Obama ad homing in on McCain on that proposal. I believe that Obama has been effective in creating doubts about the McCain proposal, and McCain has been ineffective in response.

Your Honor,
We are taxed in Massachusetts for new State insurance plan. I know they cover illegal aliens and those who are on the premium free program. I believe Medicare payments are supplied by state as well. The state can’t afford the program without substantial federal funds which are in danger of being reduced or eliminated. (As a conservative I find everyone on welfare)
The interesting thing is we are considered a pioneer in socialized medicine. Is McCain really far from us?
I noticed he ad did not cover the other side of his plan, the credits. Are they offsetting or not.
For the record I do not like the plan. Of course Obama’s plan is ??????????

Your Honor,
Your are concerned about taxing healthcare benifits (a looser if I heard one), how about OBAMA sending checks to as many as 40% of the tax payers, covering those who don’t pay taxes.
This horrible. The welfare state takes a hard turn left.
Socialism arrives.

I am concerned about McCain’s proposal because it may promote the migration of healthy younger folks to individual plans with higher co-pays and less coverage, and leave our traditional system with the older and less healthy.
I have expressed concern on this blog many times about the corrosive effects of deficits. One of the most severe of those effects is the inability to deficit spend when we really need to. Deficit spending to combat downturns and financial shocks may not be a bad thing. But the politicians in Washington, interested only in the short term, have placed us in the precarious position of doubling the national deficit in eight short years. The deficit binge has now brought the chickens home to roost.
Neither candidate has been willing to say which programs they advocate would need to be cut back or eliminated because of the deficit. It appears that folks just continue to not get it with regards to the harm these deficits are causing.

Your Honor,
I would say the spending is just begining.
Coming down the pke is “free healthcare”, “More spending for No Child Left Bening” a horrible law, “ifrastructure repair”, and Obama, welfare program that will send checks to people who don’t pay taxes.
When will it stop? Probably never.
The American people have become dependent on government to solve ALL the problems. You Democrates are going to have a grand old time after this election. I feel the Republicans are going to get ousted.
Enjoy.
