The Palin Interview

Charlie Gibson interviews Sarah Palin. Governor Palin, in two separate statements, clearly falls under the spell of the neo-cons. She raised the possibility of war with Russia over the nation of Georgia, indicating that she would be willing to give a war guarantee to Ukraine and Georgia via Nato membership. In an area of the world in which the United States has no overriding national interests she says war with Russia is possible.

When asked about a potential Israeli first strike to wipe out an Iranian nuclear capability she repeated three times that “We cannot second guess the steps that Israel has to take to defend itself”. Whether such a first strike served American interests in the region apparently would be irrelevant.

And notably she seemed to have little idea of what the “Bush Doctrine” was, and gave an answer that I think most would agree on, that faced with an imminent attack on America a President would have the right (and duty) to strike first. She dodged the question of preemptive strikes where no such imminent threat existed.

    Your Honor,

Enjoy your self. Charlie Gibson was trying to frame the answers by repeating questions. quite a sexist act. I won’t get into her responses but I will tell you she did fine. Looked cool and spoke without the familiar Obama stutter.

I don’t know if you saw the O’Reily interview wih Obama on Fox. It was person to person. It was an challenge of debating equals. In the end O’Reily challenged Obama to a friendly game of basketball.

Gibson scolded, and talked down to Sara.

I think she did great. I see a plus for us Neo-cons.

    Obama still sinking.

What is worse polls show a better showing for the congressional candidates. I have seen news reports (not blogs) that some candidates are going to distance them selves from Obama.

    This fun.

Jules, if she’s good enough for you with only her B.A. in journalism that took her about five college transfers and 6 years to attain, and is newly minted with her very FIRST passport (oh joy, I’m a BIG girl now!), and ZERO foreign policy experience feel free to vote away my friend.

As far as her answers go, if it didn’t scare you that she essentially referred to being able to see Russia as foreign policy experience, then nothing will, though I will remind you that all she sees is vast, open, frozen tundra foreign policy.

I’ll give Gibson credit, because I expected questions in advance, and prepped answers. She reminded me of an average student who is told what to study and is just giving the bare minimum needed to qualify as a ‘response’.

As far as Obama ‘sinking’. You can’t get a proper assessment of polling if in one poll, democrats outnumber republicans, or vice versa. A TRUE assessment would be equal party polling numbers. We’re not getting that, and consequently, the stage for another election decided by the RW Supreme Court is being staged. I only hope the vast number of democrats registering to vote (which FAR outnumber republicans) overwhelms ANY potential rigging.

Below is from ABC News and I concur:
    A Professor ‘Grades’ Sarah Palin

As a teacher, I had the same reaction to Governor Palin’s answers as have other teachers: this is a student who crammed a list of information for a test and will recite it back when a question remotely on-topic is raised. …Gibson’s repeated question about the Bush Doctrine demonstrated Palin’s lack of background. For those that argue that the phrase is obscure, a quick Google News archive search shows that, beginning 30 days ago and stretching back, there were about 7,790 references in Google’s news database for the phrase…

    Jim,
You guys don’t get it. She has captured the attention and admiration of many people. The rest, like yourself are afraid she will be instrumental in a Democratic defeat.

Could happen. Biden is shooting off at the mouth and it gets air time. Gibson nastiness gets air time. Ticked off people who think she is being ganged up on be big bad liberals.

What is said plus all those little details you point out are meaningless.

Watch the tracking polls. She has eclipsed the 3 guys.

Have you liberal code talkers noticed she spoke clearly and directly. You understood what she meant

You guys could loose this whole thing.

    Jules,
Attention perhaps, admiration, I’m not so sure, unless boners count…

As far as understanding what she said? Perhaps only after Gibson posed or rephrased the question multiple times could a semi-coherent, but still unintillegible response be obtained. But then again in your book he was being smarmy and sexist.

    Jules,
On the polling data that you refer to may I point out that without question McCain took a good bump up. But this race has a long way to go, and the key remains the electoral map. Obama still looks good in the electoral college, so don’t be counting your chickens just yet.

One other observation as far as her interview. I’m guessing in order for ABC to score this coup, that some give/take had to take place. I would be really interested to see the pieces of the interview that weren’t presented to the viewer. While I’ve only been able to view the ‘interview’ on line at ABC, or by catching some pieces on nightline and 20/20, in all cases, the ‘crops’ between the answers to one question and the lead-in to another question lead me to believe that the unflattering responses or ramble-ons were edited out at the discretion of the mcsame campaign.

    Your Honor

Obama has slipped in the electoral college count.

Jim, Your arguments are always base on unsustainable data. In the palin/Gibson interview,Gibson’s interprtation was wrong. There are four interpertations of the Bush Doctorine. The fellow that gave the Bush Document it’s name said that Gibson’s choice was the wrong one. One for Sara.

His remarks about her faith had to be corrected by her as being intonations by Abraham Lincoln. Point Sara.

Bet you she came out OK. No home run but a nice at bat.

Gibson came off as a nasty old man. That pompous look over his glasses was bad TV Unless your are the mayor and Jim.

Interesting, while Jules claims Obama’s slipped in the electoral count, McCain claims his crowd numbers are up….or not.

Jim,Saw your piece on crowd controversy. The article did not resolve the issue. Fire chief said he did not count outside crowds. It was journalists (Our enemy) who questioned the numbers.

Need neutral 3rd party to confirm.

    Happy trails.
