The right qualifications

There has been a lot of sniping about the qualifications of Governor Palin to be on the ticket, and I have to say that being a City Councilor and then a Mayor makes perfect sense to me. In light of that I have had a for now unnamed former political officeholder send me this video, which I have created a link to. Getting my hopes up like this just doesn’t seem right. Link to it here.

    Your Honor,

Let me begin the ground swell for your candidacy with the following bumper sticker

    Manzi/Kerry for President.

I had to change to this from Manzi/Edwards for obvious reasons.

    You Go Mayor.

PS (had passing thoughts of Gordon/Manzi, I suddenly woke up in a sweat.

    Your Honor,

If you look at the history of the presidency you can come to the conclusion that there is no resume that will predict success or failure of a newly elected president.

George Washington had no concept of what a president should do in this experimental democracy, but through his personality and grace gave birth to the office which is still practiced today.

We have had a lot of generals. Ulysses Grant, savior of the union, failed as president because he chose friends as his officers and they went corrupt. Grant wasn’t.

No one in my lifetime seemed to have a more inclusive resume than Lyndon Johnson. He ended being all but hounded out of office.

Discussion of qualifications is meaingless. A candidate runs and is accepted or rejected by the electorate.

Now if anyone wants to compare Palin to Obama I’m ready to take you on. Otherwise just stick to the issues.

    Go Mayor!!

And by forming your own grassroots campaign, you can avoid the SINGLE job interview need to be a Republican VP candidate as well!!!

I’m hopeful that this will be the nail in McCain’s coffin — BEFORE any successful election of him of course….

    Your Honor,

Our only problem would be during our issues debates. Of course I would be President due to juxtaposition of the names on the bumper sticker.

Actually, I thought you would challenge that proposal.

Anyway. After we arrive at my….er our decision we are off to the nearest Starbucks so you can buy me one large.
