Clinton’s Name to be entered into Nomination

The negotiations are complete, and the name of Hillary Clinton will be placed into nomination at the Democratic convention. The Clinton and Obama camps have issued a joint statement:

Since June, Senators Obama and Clinton have been working together to ensure a Democratic victory this November. They are both committed to winning back the White House and to to ensuring that the voices of all 35 million people who participated in this historic primary election are respected and heard in Denver. To honor and celebrate these voices and votes, both Senator Obama’s and Senator Clinton’s names will be placed in nomination.

“I am convinced that honoring Senator Clinton’s historic campaign in this way will help us celebrate this defining moment in our history and bring the party together in a strong united fashion,” said Senator Barack Obama.

Senator Obama’s campaign encouraged Senator Clinton’s name to be placed in nomination as a show of unity and in recognition of the historic race she ran and the fact that she was the first woman to compete in all of our nation’s primary contests.

“With every voice heard and the Party strongly united, we will elect Senator Obama President of the United States and put our nation on the path to peace and prosperity once again,” said Senator Hillary Clinton.

Senator Obama and Senator Clinton are looking forward to a convention unified behind Barack Obama as the Party’s nominee and to victory this fall for America.

Obama continues to bend, and Clinton continues to push. I guess this means Hillary wasn’t selected as Obama’s choice for Vice President.

    Your Honor,

    Question for you;

    Is it possible for Hillary to take the nomination away from Barack Obama?

    Funny thought, but probably not so funny to Hillary. The delegate math makes that impossible.

    Your Honor,

    Even if the super delegates change their minds?

    I guess that is technically possible, but not going to happen. That convention hall would be torn asunder.

    I personlly hope that does happen. As they say “it’s not over ’till it’s over”. I think the superdelegates certainly have the right to change their minds and I hope they do. Hillary should have been the nominee all along. That she is not his pick for VP is a further slap in the face to a woman who SHOULD be the Democratic Nominee for President of these United States. Mr. Obama apparently cannot control Senator Clinton. She is very strong in her own right and is appropriately pushing back. Good for her. However, all of this begs the question if Mr. Obama cannot ease the tensions between his camp and that of Senator Clinton’s how in the world is he ever going to be able to do so between hostile global entities.

    Hillary and Bill are demonstrating the ease with which Barack Obama can be pushed around. With no real leverage over Obama, they have managed to secure prime time speeches for themselves on Tuesday and Wednesday night at the convention and to get Hillary’s name placed in nomination. They have won all of their demands for convention scheduling. In the name of party unity, Obama has given away the store. After the nominations, there will be a roll call vote. This further assures that the convention will be a continuation of the primaries and that Obama will be a guest at his own convention.

    This begs the basic question: Is Barack Obama strong enough to be president?

    She does have some leverage here, although it may not be apparent to many. The tables will turn one way or another after the election. Lets see how he reacts to these things if he wins the election.
