The body of Lawrence soldier Alex Jimenez, who has been M.I.A. in Iraq for fourteen months, was found and identified yesterday. Sgt Jimenez had been seized by the enemy after a firefight, and his family always held out hope that he was alive in Iraq. Yesterdays news was a blow to the family, and the entire Merrimack Valley. The body of Pvt. Byron Fouty of Michigan, who was taken in the same action, was also found. I had the privelege of meeting Andy Jimenez, Alex’s father, at a Veterans celebration in Methuen last year, as well as Pvt Fouty’s dad, and the City of Methuen offers our condolences to both families.
