The Beas Site

We have unveiled a plan for boating access to the Merrimack River at the old Beas Sandwich Shop site. This plan is the result of a $250,000 state grant that will fully fund this project. And while the interaction between state and city has not been entirely seamless on this project I believe that we have a plan that will not only add boat access but will beautify a major entry point into Methuen. I have attached the plan I presented at last weeks public hearing, and I hope to have a contract before City Council within 30 days.

I attended that meeting and was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful plans for the Bea’s site. What is the time line for the creation of what will ultimately be a beautiful gateway to the city?

I grew up down the street from Beas, and it was a very sad day when it was torn down. And to watch as nothing happened to the land was even sadder. This is a great plan, I hope the park will be closely monitored for crime due to its location. I am just very happy that you have done something right with this property. Thank you Mr Mayor
