The Republican Sing Song Response

Taking a cue out of the Bobby Jindal mode of delivery Republican Rep. Kevin McCarthy delivers the Republican response to President Obama’s weekly address. Some of the items that he forgot to mention include the conversion of huge Clinton surpluses to enormous Bush deficits, five years of total Republican silence on the enormous fraud and waste associated with the Iraq war effort, Republican Congressional support for massive farm bills that waste billions, Republican support for the earmarking process, which they made into a science. And when people spoke up about the dangers inherent in such policies the Republicans rallied behind the Dick Cheney mantra that “deficits don’t matter”. These folks think the country has amnesia, and given the chance they would run deficits that would be enormous. Just take a look at the House Republican alternative budget.

    Your Honor,

Okay, and the Republicans got their heads handed to them. To make matters worse, the fellows who lead the party to this debacle are still in office.

    So what is your point?

If you look at the “Tea Party” events you will notice the participants are Republicans, Conservatives, Independents, and Democrats, but did not tout these associations. It was Americans protesting what they think is the socialist direction our country is moving towards.

No politicians were invited to speak. In fact, the RNC chairman requested to speak at one rally and was politely told he could attend but not address the crowd. Conservative issues must be carried forward by another entity not yet identified.

I never understand your motives to run backward on these things which you seem to do frequently. I am not embarrassed by any of it as no party can stand any scrutiny in these matters.

I have written all I can about Republican historical missteps.

I stick with the issues that are before us today as our socialist president changes our society and starts down the road to a European model if not a second rate status.

Well the point is both simple and obvious. The Republican opposition decries deficits when, as you point out, these same folks were not saying a peep about the drive by Bush/Cheney to drive our deficits into the stratosphere. As far as why it is relevant the Republicans left a mess that Obama is cleaning up, and the best we have gotten from any opposition, be it Republican or otherwise, is to let the whole structure collapse, give more tax cuts, and let the free market rebuild. Does not seem like much of a plan to me.

    Your Honor,

Now you have said fighting words.

Factiod: The economy was set up for a fall by Jimmy Carter where the push on banks to provide loans to a wider population whose credit worthiness would not normally qualify for a mortgage loan. Pushed largely by the Democrats, this policy gained steam right through to George W’s term attracting. unworthy loans by the millions. The establishment of Fannie May and Freddie Mack may have also given service to the idea that these future toxic loans would be backed by the government, accelerating issuances of more bad loans. Even the Holy One, the future president Obama, participating by suing banks that did not comply with the policies (and winning) working for Acorn, another kind of Chicago Mob supporting the policy.

Now before you tell me all about the nasty Republican, just tell me what the Democrats under that banking wizard, Barney Frank, did to recognize the problem and stop it.

I can tell you that 6 years into Bush’s term he presented regulation that was voted down by Barney Frank and the Holy One and the Democrats and, I presume, some Republicans.

I other words, your honor, the gang that could saved the day did not and now own the problem.

A pox on both their houses.

As far as the Policy the republicans propose, it is the correct one. Of course you guys don’t believe in a free market unless it’s one you plunder.

If “Bush/Cheney” were talking about stratospheric heights what do you call the place the OBAMA deficit are going, Outer Space?

Given the Deval/Barack skill set I say you have to tread carefully in your super-biased criticism.

You have nothing to crow about.

Hi I wholeheartedly agree with Jules. The negative feedback to the response is that they should have subtitles for people who are deaf.

Ohh, we see a new player: now it’s Jimmy Carter’s fault! Wow. Never saw that one coming.

So, wingers, do I have this right?

Say Acorn, Barney Frank, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Obama all together enough times (toss a Nancy Pelosi in occasionally), and the sheeple will fill in the rest of the clearly obvious(?) causual relationships. Even if they have to make it up. Lather, lather, repeat.

No other response necessary. But thanks for the humor!

But, in our case, we actually back it up with, um, you know, facts and stuff.

But for today, let’s enjoy our Patriot’s Day by honoring those that gave everything so that we can have these conversations.

Try not to do any of that terrorist stuff.

    Fred, old Boy,

I man’s facts are another man’s lies. Just because you can find it on You-Tube doesn’t make it truthful. You and I will never agree what is the truth.

The color of the sky in my country (red white and blue) is not the same as yours, which I assume is (red).

By the time your “Holy One” get through with this country Patriot’s Day won’t even be a memory. Socialism is in our future.

Always sad that the truth is so inconvenient for you.

But keep wrapping yourself up in the flag, thinking y’all are the keepers of the flame. If you’re going to tell yourselves myths, might as well be that one.

We are in one of your round robin discussions.

Do you have anything intelligent to add beside snide remarks?

I mirror what I’m given. When I try to draw you into an intelligent argument, you defer. So, we are left to disagree, sometimes disagreeably (though not sure this is that time). I am genuinely saddened by the fact that facts do not move you, that you’d rather name call and promote your own superiority rather than make a harder examination that may lead to enlightenment. Perhaps you think it is weakness to admit when you’re wrong, I myself do not.

Oh, well. Such is the level of discourse everywhere, I suppose.

    Enjoy your day.
