Rush Limbaugh continued to cement his obvious role as the de facto leader of the Republican Party, giving a wildy received speech to CPAC, laying out his philosophy on what it means to be a conservative. And in the attached clip, he takes on “racism”, stating the conservative movement is free of racism, and that racism flowed from the left, as evidenced by the Democratic primaries. The ascendance of Limbaugh has been greeted warmly by the Obama administration, with Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel identifying El Rushbo as the real intellectual driving force of the current Republican Party. From Politico:
White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel charged Sunday that conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh is “the voice and the intellectual force and energy behind the Republican Party.”
Emanuel, speaking in deliberately soothing tones, told anchor Bob Schieffer on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that Limbaugh has been up front about “praying for failure” by President Obama.
“I think that’s the wrong philosophy for America,” Emanuel said. “What Americans want us to do, and what President Obama has been very clear about, is work together setting our goals …
“Our goal, Bob, is to continue to reach out and it’s our desire that the Republicans would work with us and try to be constructive, rather than adopt the philosophy of somebody like Rush Limbaugh.”
And listening to Rush bask in his “first address to the nation” at CPAC, one can see the hubris that will lead the Republicans for the forseeable future. And with Republican electeds actually terrified of offending El Rushbo their party is now led by an entertainer. Rahm did not smile while he identified Rush, but you could see an internal smile that was pretty big. Keep up the good work, El Rushbo!
Your Honor,
Starting out so early? Don’t forget the “One” has just begun. Time will tell if he is the real or false Messiah.
Rush and I have the same philosophy, in the end capitalism and freedom will yield the most desirable results, especially for people who prepare and work for what they get.
They are not perfect by any means, but if I can paraphrase Winston Churchill, Democracy is the worst system except for all the others. The “One” drives us toward the “others”.
For the last eight years the Republicans lost this basic philosophy and now have paid the price. My concern that, as a nation, we are drifting toward socialism much to the glee of my blog buddies Jim and Fred. To their credit they are direct and not apologetics.
All Rush said was the conservatives should return to this basic philosophy when we, again, go before the voters. We have yet to prove we are capable or worthy.
Now we must wait until the next election cycle.
Meanwhile you can enjoy the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, the crooked Chicago cabinet of Barak Obama because as Chuck Shumer said, nobody cares. I think he is right.
See you on the other side.

I watched the first video, and I wouldn’t even know where to start. I was thinking for a second there that Rush was living in a liberal fantasy world, what with all that equality and seeing all that waste around …
Must be the Oxycontin talking.

Whatever it is this guy needs to be put front and center as the face of the Republican Party. Let him speak to people besides his listening audience and watch the effect he has on them. He offends most of the growing demographic sections of America. And he does so with an ego so gigantic that he would gladly plunge his party into permanent minority status just to try to win a debating point. Al Franken certainly had this guys number.

I think maybe that’s exactly what the Dems are hoping to do: whenever he gets out in front of a non-screened audience that can talk back or point out the obvious hypocrisies, he folds like a cheap suit.
Remember his Letterman appearance? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a guy sweat so much.

This is making me tear up just a little: the Republicans starting to act like … sniff … Democrats!
