The Obama Weekly Radio Address

President elect Barack Obama, in making the Democratic weekly radio address, has placed this talk on you tube, a nice innovation. I have placed the radio talk here. What do you think of his first presentation?

Though I did not vote for him. I thought this type of address via the Net is a cool. But what people sometimes fail to realize is that not all people have Net access and use still TV, Radio or Newspapers. Hoperfully this address is shown their or at least on CSPAN.

    Yoour Honor,

A fireplace (fireside chat like) would make a nice touch.

The first half was like an editorial telling anyone who was paying attention what they already new.

It was the second half that contained the meat.

    1. The government can, in fact, build roads and bridges. This was his WPA call to fix everything we neglected. He used one of my favorite politico-speak words “investment”, a euphemism for taxes. We, who are in the know understand that it was through neglect that these things fell into disrepair. I hope he prevents that from happening again by setting aside, in a lock box, savings to maintain the roads and bridges, as well replace them at the end of their lives. forget it, the congress will steal it anyway. (remember the Dukakis road maintenance savings thing?)

    2. Then he drifted into the things government can’t do effectively, education and health care. The federal government and state government should get out of the education business altogether and leave it to the local governments. A single payer health system in this country will be a disaster, another thing the federal government does well.

So, your honor, he made points that grabbed my attention of things to come.

A fireplace would still be a nice touch along with a cardigan sweater.
