The United States mens basketball team brought home the gold yesterday, defeating Spain in the gold medal game 118-107 behind Dwayne Wades 27 points and Kobe Bryants 20. The game was a lot closer than an earlier 119-82 U.S. rout of Spain, with Spain pulling to within 4 late in the game. International basketball order has been restored, and recognition should go to Jerry Colangelo, the head of USA basketball, and coach Mike Krzyzewski, who emphasized a return to team play by building a unit that has played together for three years. That emphasis on cohesion and especially a tough, clinging defense, were keys to the Team USA victory. Congratulations to all.
