Central Catholic High School defeated Boston College High School tonight 54-44 to win the Eastern Massachusetts Boys Basketball Championship. BC High seemed in control for three quarters, holding a ten point lead for much of the game, but Central Catholic came out of a zone defense in the fourth quarter and smothered BC High with a swarming, ball hawking defense. Carson Desrosiers once again dominated inside, blocking at least ten shots. Billy Marsden, pretty much shut down in the first half, made some critical second half baskets during the explosive CCHS run. Wilfredo Pagan was the key to Central’s pressure defense, really stopping BC High from being able to run their set offense smoothly. And Adrian Gonzalez showed some real big D at key points, and added a showtime jam for good measure. Congrats to CCHS, the reigning Kings of Eastern Massachusetts.
