The President goes to AIPAC after his comments on negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians using the 1967 borders as a starting point created some degree of controversy, especially with the Israeli Prime Minister and Republicans attempting to demagogue the issue. I have attached the George Mitchell interview with Christiane Amanpour, where Mitchell lucidly and honestly explains American policy. The President received a warm welcome at AIPAC, and I believe his remarks there were consistent with his earlier comments, and reflective of a deep American commitment to Israel. Barack Obama is not a standard politician, and his ability to think outside a preconceived box is something we need more of, not less. The protection of American national interests through diplomacy is not something that can be achieved through chanting slogans, but instead requires a careful and thoughtful consideration of policy ramifications, and the responses American policies will bring from other nations, in particular American allies. The President, once again, is light years ahead of his Republican opponents. Diplomacy should recognize the world as it is, and not how we wish it to be.

Israel is to reap what our president sowed. By sticking his nose where it does not belong, telling Israel that they had go back to pre-1967 borders as a start to negotiations for a Palestinian state.
Now the Arabs are Begin to take action at the UN to seat a Palestinian delegate at the UN. The borders between Egypt and Gaza are now open for Weapons smuggling. Hamas is moving its office to Cairo. Another fleet of ships is going to Gaza from Turkey, no longer an Israeli ally.
All this because the Arabs feel the President is now on their side.

Unfortunately your analysis is exactly the opposite of the truth. The President said that the basis for the “start” of negotiations was the 1967 borders, with negotiated land swaps and no deal that is not accepted by “both” sides. It has been American policy since the 1967 war. As far as your other accusations they are typically neo-conservative nonsense. The President, in making his comments, is trying to forestall the U.N. action that is most surely coming. It will force a U.S. veto, and will likely be supported by most, if not all, U.S. allies. U.S. policy under the neo-con label says that the rest of the world doesn’t matter. We are about to put that to the test.
As far as Egypt goes the government there, like ALL Arab governments, is outraged by the U.S. position on the Palestinian issue. The Egyptian and Turkish break with Israel is not because President Obama has an anti Israel policy. It is because he has refused Arab demands that he be harder on Israel. George Mitchell quit precisely for that reason.
If you think that the Arab countries have only come to their positions recently I would ask for some of what you are imbibing, for it must be fairly strong. Our friends in the Arab world, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, and now Iraq, have ALWAYS favored and demanded a return to the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of a new Palestinian state. Obama’s speech is designed to forestall U.N. action and show that the U.S. is an honest broker for a peace that brings real security.
You really believe that Turkey has broken from Israel because of Barack Obama??? The same Turkey that denied us northern transit rights in the Bush Administration as we prepared to invade Iraq?

I said that our foreign policy guru President has made an unexpected and unwanted foray into the negotiation by leaving the job of moderator to becoming an advocate for the Arab cause.
Whether or not he meant to do that is immaterial, he’s done it. So now Israel, a country smaller than Massachusetts in population has been abandoned dealt a back stabbing blow.
The Arabs don’t care what Obama’s intentions were it’s his words they will turn them to propaganda in order drive Israel into the Mediterranean.
That are better at hateful propaganda, even more so than the Democrats.
I spent a week there in January of 2010. It’s citizens walk around armed, waiting for the call to defend it’s borders.
The stuff I’m imbibing is not as strong as what you consuming. I was there when the UN issued it’s proclamation in 1948. I watched 5 Arab armies, trained and lead by Nazis (the German Kind)tried to drive the Jews into the sea. I followed the 1956 war, the 67 war, and the 73 war. Now Europe is flooded with Arabs and Moslem’s who have scared their hosts and now they drift away from neutrality to be allies of the Arabs. Turkey has turned to fundamentalism and is turning away from Israel.

Obama is incompetent. I fear him.

You listed an entire group of bad things for the state of Israel, and then said: “All this because the Arabs feel the President is now on their side.”
Now Jules that is just not true. The Arabs feel that because of domestic political pressure President Obama has not been an evenhanded negotiating partner, favoring Israel. A particular bone in their throat is the Israeli settlement activity, which the President was obliquely referring to when he said “negotiated land swaps”. It is not necessary to agree with the Palestinian point of view to understand it. And the President, from the Arab perspective, has been a staunch ally of Israel. Those are the facts, and Obama hatred can’t change them.

The problems begin to accumulate.
All the Arab Countries surrounding Israel will begin assaulting Israel’s boarders under the enticements from Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran and Egypt with women and and children to the fore to celebrate Israel’s victory in the six day war.
France has warned Israel that it will recognize a Palestinian State if Israel does not negotiate.
I said Obama’s seemingly abandonment of Israel has emboldened the Arabs. The don’t like hit, is true. But this is a war of propaganda. Obama just fed the Arab Propaganda machine. It’s all the excuse they need. The EU siding with the Arabs further embolden’s them.
Israel will pay. Arabs hurt or killed in assault on the border will be martyred.
